Top 2017 Yoga Paddle Boards

If you are looking for a new challenge to try, consider yoga on a stand up paddle board (SUP). While this sport is relatively new, it has become increasingly popular with yogis and paddlers alike.

What is SUP Yoga?

SUP Yoga is practising yoga on a paddle board in a body of water like a lake an ocean. With paddle boarding and yoga, you get the benefits of relaxing in nature and the benefits of a great workout Since the board is unstable, you have to increase your core stability and balance to achieve a pose than on dryland.

Traditional yoga is all about relaxation. SUP Yoga takes relaxation to a whole another level! You experience incredible tranquility from the sounds of waves and relaxing into the surrounding nature. Together, stand up paddling and yoga promote a healthy body and mind.

Before purchasing a board, I highly suggest checking out a SUP yoga class near you. Classes are getting more popular all the time and there is likely one near you. If you can’t access a class, try to borrow a board from a friend or rent one to make sure it has the features you are looking for a yoga paddle board.

What to look for in yoga paddle board

If you are loving SUP yoga and want a board of your own, your ideal board will be long and wide with lots of volume for stability and comfort. Look for a board that its greater than 30 inches wide and 9 feet long to make sure you have enough room for a variety of poses. The nose (front of the board) should be wide to allow hands and feet to be properly placed during poses.

Another factor that affects the stability of a board is firmness and how thick a board is. The firmer and thicker the platform, the more stable a board will be. Six inch thick boards will provide a more rigid and stable platform than 4 inch boards.

Ten Toes Board Emporium Weekender SUP Board

The Ten Toes Board Emporium Weekender is a great all-around board, not just for yoga. I loved how solid the board felt underfoot at a respectible 10 feet long, and 30 inches wide.

One of the key features of inflatable boards is how easy they are to store and set up. The Weekender rocks for storage size and ease of use. When deflated, this board rolls up to about the size of two sleeping bags stacked end on end and fits easily into a closet
